Player Ratings: Bari 3-1 Juventus

BARI

Gillet: 8 - The captain will be disappointed with himself after spilling Diego’s shot which led to Trezeguet’s goal. He more that made up for that mistake with wonderful saves on Trezeguet and Poulsen in the second half. Could easily be the man of the match tonight.

Stellini: 7 - He did his job with minimal fuss and will bask in the glory of Bari’s massive victory.

Bonucci: 8
- Has the potential to become one of the next great centre-backs to come off the Serie A assembly line. Missed a free header in the first half but was absolutely superb this evening.

Diamoutene: 7.5 - Other than misjudging the flight of the ball that gifted Trezeguet a golden opportunity, he was rock solid at the back.

A. Masiello: 7 - Was a Juventus youth team player and came back to haunt his old side with a very tidy performance at the back.

Rivas: 6 - His set pieces were decent tonight and he looked dangerous in possession but he was playing on his opposite wing tonight and struggled at times against Caceres.

Almiron: 7
- Saw a lot of the ball and even though the on loan Juventus man conceded a sloppy penalty, he put the match to bed with a sweet strike in the 80th minute.

Donati: 7 - The former Celtic defender gave away possession at times in the early going but settled down to have a solid match despite clashing heads with Amauri in the first half.

Alvarez: 6.5 - Looks to be a dangerous player when running at the opposition. Was caught offside too many times and missed two glorious chances in injury time.

Barreto: 8 - ‘Speedy Gonzalez’ did extremely well to use his pace to win the penalty and was able to keep his nerve to slot the ball past Buffon. Limped off at the hour mark but the damage was already done.

Meggiorini: 7.5 - Scored only his second goal of the season but what an important strike it was as it gave the home side some early confidence which they parleyed into a herculean victory.

Substitutes

Greco: 6
- Came and gave a solid 30-minute showing for his side.

Kamata: 6.5
- Caused the Juventus back four some problems with his pace.

Gazzi: 6 - Did what was asked of him in his 19-minutes on the pitch.

JUVENTUS

Buffon: 6 - The Italian number one was playing with a bothersome meniscus injury and didn’t look very convincing on crosses inside of his area. No chance on either of the three goals.

Molinaro: 6 - Bari attacked his side of the pitch at will in the first half. Did not make any glaring mistakes but didn’t do anything of note either.

Legrottaglie: 5 - Deputised for the injured Chiellini and the Juve backline seem to leak goals with him in the lineup. Contributed to some comic book defending at times.

Cannavaro: 6 - He was having a pretty stellar match before Barreto left him flat footed and was forced to concede a penalty just before the half-time break.

Caceres: 6 - His grit and determination were on display once again tonight but that didn’t stop the back four from conceding three times.

Poulsen: 7 - Did an admirable job of protecting the two central defenders in open play. Picked up a yellow card that will see him miss the next match against Catania.

Marchisio: 5 - A disappointing effort from the Tardelli clone. He was caught in possession and at fault for Meggiorini’s goal and missed a decent chance in the 40th minute. Easily his worst performance of the year.

Diego: 6 - Was a real livewire in the first half. Did extremely well to hold off his marker and unleash the shot that led to Trezeguet’s goal but… Missed a huge penalty that drove the stake into his coach’s heart. The blown penalty was the match’s turning point.

Tiago: 5.5 - The Portuguese midfielder might lose some sleep after his miss in the 62 minute. Had a couple of good chances but could not put them away.

Amauri: 5 - The under fire Brazilian missed a plethora of chances and seems to be a beaten man at the moment.

Trezeguet: 7.5 - The Frenchman has been turning back the years of late and is doing what is asked of him. Typical Trezeguet type of goal in the first half.

Substitutes

Grosso: 7 - Won his side a penalty within moments of coming on and was a danger whenever he touched the ball.

Camoranesi: NA

Giovinco: 7 – Why didn’t he come on 25 minutes earlier?
